This 6,100 sq. meter galleria skylight has been an iconic distinguishing feature of the Eaton Centre since it opened in 1977. The existing glass roof was replaced with the latest technologies and materials to maintain long-term sustainability and energy efficiency. The new skylight is more transparent and allows for more sunlight to fill the shopping mall, all while retaining its original architectural splendor.
This skylight was transformed in collaboration with our partners Cadillac Fairview and EllisDon. The renovation spanned approximately 900 ft. from Queen Street to the south of the Nordstrom store at the north end of the mall.
Symtech was responsible for replacing the fire alarms on the skylight, installing all new lighting, and ensuring that the skylight roof was fit-for-purpose.
