Sony Centre

General Contractor: Vanbots Construction (A Carillion Company)

The Sony Centre (now Meridian Hall) is Canada’s largest soft-seat theatre, which is 200,000 sq. ft. and has a max capacity of over 3,000 people. This venue hosts a variety of major touring productions, concerts, and private events.

This landmark theatre was upgraded in collaboration with Vanbots (A Carillion Company) to reflect the modern and ever-evolving standards of the theatre industry.

Symtech was responsible for the revamp of all electrical systems, relocation of mail electrical infrastructure, and relocation of the electrical switch area. Our team was also responsible for the installation and integration of fire alarms, aisle lighting, augmented CAT6 cabling, dimming systems, temporary power systems, a 4000-amp switchboard, and a duct bank.
