Symtech is thrilled to announce that we will be working on the Aviva Canada relocation project.
In 2017, insurance company Aviva Canada will be moving from Scarborough to a new office building in downtown Markham. This will be a part of a multi-year 243-acre project, which will contribute to developing Markham’s vibrant and walkable downtown. The 12-storey, 350,000 sq. ft. building on Birchmount Avenue, will mostly be occupied by Aviva, with remaining spaces open for lease. Designed by Quadrangle Architects, the building is targeting LEED Silver certification. The building will be used by students from McMaster University and Mohawk College, as well as visiting academics, with the capacity to house over 1,500 people.
“Aviva Canada reviewed several options for their new national campus, and we are pleased that they chose to build a state-of-the-art office in Downtown Markham,” said Christopher Bratty, President, Land Development and Investments, The Remington Group. “Aviva Canada joins other industry leaders including Worley Parsons, and Motorola in selecting the LEED certified commercial space offered by Downtown Markham.”
Downtown Markham will also be home to 2 million sq. ft. of retail, 72 acres of natural and landscaped green spaces, and a world class art program including the world’s first power-producing, fine-art carousel.
Symtech’s project scope will be a complete 8 floor fit-out and the installation of new lighting, lighting controls, panels, generators, and UPS.
