AVIVA Canada

(Markham, ON), 2015 Insurance company Aviva Canada will be moving from Scarborough in 2017 to a new office building in Downtown Markham, a multi-year 243-acre project, to bring a vibrant, walkable downtown to the fast-growing city to the northeast of Toronto. The 12-storey, 350,000 square foot building on Birchmount Avenue just to the north of Highway 407 will be mostly taken by Aviva, while other square footage remains to be leased in the building. The new building will be housing more than 1,500 people. Designed by Quadrangle Architects, the building is being targeted to achieve LEED Silver certification. The building will be used for students from McMaster University, Mohawk College as well as visiting academics.

“Aviva Canada reviewed several options for their new national campus and we are pleased that they chose to build a state-of-the-art office in Downtown Markham,” said Christopher Bratty, President, Land Development and Investments, The Remington Group. “Aviva Canada joins other industry leaders including Worley Parsons, and Motorola in selecting the LEED certified commercial space offered by Downtown Markham.”
Downtown Markham will also be home to 2 million square feet of retail, 72 acres of natural and landscaped green spaces and a world class art program including the world’s first power-producing, fine- art carousel.

Symtech’s project scope will be complete fit up of new space – 8 floor fit out; lighting (various) and lighting control; new panels, generator and UPS.
