Symtech is proud to announce our partnership with Hunt Electric on the revitalization of the CAMI plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. Symtech and Hunt Electric are both a part of the Federated Electrical Contractors (FEC) Network which has changed the landscape of electrical contracting, creating joint-venture networks which bring leading electrical contractors together whenever and wherever special resources are needed. FEC joint ventures have proven themselves repeatedly on challenging products for many of the world’s leading companies.
After more than three decades of production, it is getting closer to the end of the line for the last fossil-fuel dependent vehicles at the GM Ingersoll, CAMI Plant. The CAMI plant will be re-tooled and transitioning from making the Chevrolet Equinox to the upcoming BrightDrop Zevo 600 and the Zevo 400 electric vans.
CAMI will be reborn in late 2022 as Canada’s first ever Electric Vehicle (EV) Assembly Plant.
This facility is approximately 2 million sq. ft. with a mission to send zero waste from its daily operations to landfills. This mission supports the efficiency of our operations, helps conserve vital resources, and supports the communities where we work and live.
This project is a major overhaul of the paint facility, which will be demoed and brought back to a shell space for the new paint facility to be installed. Symtech’s scope of work will include the demolition of all power and lighting systems, as well as installing the replacement systems.
