The Mississauga Civic Centre’s “Celebration Square” was revitalized and redesigned to make the space a more accessible and attractive destination in the heart of Mississauga’s downtown. The Celebration Square is a 9,000 sq. meter renovated multi-media courtyard that features a wading pool/ice rink and a floral garden. The five-storey Mississauga Central Library is just south of this complex.
Mississauga was presented with this exciting opportunity to revitalize its infrastructure and stimulate the local economy, thanks to an allocation of $145 million in funding from the federal and provincial government. These renovations were completed with funds from the government’s Infrastructure Stimulus Fund (ISF) program and Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program.
Symtech was responsible for the rehabilitation and renovation of the entire Civic Centre and Celebration Square. This included the integration of modern elements and upgrades to the existing facilities and infrastructure. Improvements to the complex addressed structural and design deficiencies in the parking garage, the public square, and an adjacent portion of City Centre Drive.
