The Sick Kids Research & Learning Tower is equipped with state-of-the-art learning and teaching facilities for Sick Kids Learning Institute, including a 250-seat lecture theatre, flexible learning spaces, display areas, tele-education facilities, and meeting rooms.
The Research & Learning Tower was designed to achieve LEED® Gold Certification in accordance with Sick Kids’ mission to create healthy and sustainable environments. This was achieved through innovation in reduced energy and resource consumption combined with creative space and site planning.
Symtech was responsible for the interior fit-up and ICT cabling for 21 floors. A significant portion of the work was completed off-site to support the schedule and reduce on-site labor. Work completed off-site included the prefabrication of all plywood telecommunication backboards and kitting of all material required for workstation terminations.
