General Contractor: PCL Constructors Canada Inc.
The original Sears store — which was redeveloped into a Nordstrom — occupied four levels at the Toronto Eaton Centre, with an approximate rental area of 350,000 sq. ft. This redevelopment project converted the four floors into a leasable commercial retail space complete with a modern finish.
In collaboration with our partner PCL Constructors Canada Inc., we were able to fully redevelop this space with new electrical systems.
Symtech was responsible for demolishing 12 existing base building electrical rooms, intercepting and reconnecting the building’s electrical distribution risers, supplying and installing a new 3000-amp switchboard, removing existing lighting, power, and control system, supplying and installing a new 500 kW generator, completing maintenance and upgrades on the existing 900 kW medium-voltage generator, and replacing the existing fire alarm systems. All electrical and fire alarm upgrades were completed while keeping the food court and the rest of the Eaton Centre fully operational.
