Symtech Innovations Ltd. is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Design Assist Electrical contract for the 2 Queen Street West project.
As a surviving example of late 19th-century commercial building design, the building has been prominently situated on the northwest corner of Yonge and Queen Street West in downtown Toronto for over 125 years, incorporated into the most prestigious shopping centre - Cadillac Fairview’s Eaton Centre.
Working alongside our partners – Cadillac Fairview and PCL Construction, Symtech will transform the corner into a landmark gateway for the Eaton Centre with the revitalization of 2 Queen Street West.
The project, designed to improve the quality and utility of the building while preserving its unique architectural features, includes rebuilding the original 1896 facade with more than 40,000 replica bricks, stone, and terra cotta pieces and adding three new modern storeys to the building. The first two new storeys are for office use, and the top storey will accommodate a first-class restaurant with a wraparound terrace.
Symtech will provide this project with all its electrical systems, such as power distribution, emergency power, lighting, lighting controls, and fire alarm. Symtech will also carry out a comprehensive security system, including CCTV and cameras. The Design Assist approach for this project allows Symtech to contribute its vast experience to improve constructability, achieve efficiencies & cost savings, and ultimately add value.
