Symtech is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Design Assist Electrical Contract for the 2 Bloor Street West project.
Located at the lively intersection of Yonge and Bloor Street and at the crossing of two main Toronto subway lines, this building is positioned at the base of a class “A” office tower which stands at over 430,000 sq. ft.
The renovations will cover the concourse level, ground floor, and various other floors, totaling up to 100,000 sq. ft. This project will involve the remodel of the existing public and commercial areas, which will improve the pedestrian experience and alleviate the daily foot traffic congestion. The main purpose of this project is to separate electrical services for the future demolition of existing buildings.
Symtech will be responsible for decommissioning the existing high voltage electrical room, which will be replaced with an improved electrical system. In addition, Symtech will provide all electrical systems, such as power distribution, emergency power, highly efficient lighting, lighting controls, fire alarms, security systems, network systems, and paging systems. Symtech will carry out extensive renovations, including demolitions and installations of all new systems, all while the existing tenants are still occupied. The Design Assist approach for this project allows Symtech to contribute its vast experience to improve constructability, achieve efficiency, cost savings, and ultimately add value.
